Maze Fire personnel worked on an extension to an existing care home that would provide specialist care to residents suffering from dementia. The brief was to provide a more open environment that enhances the day-to-day environment for residents, and then appropriate fire safety measures being incorporated to allow for evacuation of the residents.
Working with healthcare specialists at Borough Care and DASH Architecture, the fire engineered strategy involving an enhanced detection and suppression system allowed the design to meet the requirements of the Building Regulations for fire without compromising the everyday needs of persons with complex health problems. This allowed the scheme to win ‘Best Regeneration Project’ at the Pinders Heathcare Awards 2022.
